Internet Desk: East Bengal is all set to report against Cornell Glen to the All India Football Federation. The Mohun Bagan striker was in news recently following his allegation against East Bengal’s Arnab Mondal for making racist remarks against him during the derby that was played on April 02 in Siliguri. Following the Trinidad & Tobago strikers allegation, AIFF disciplinary committee has imposed a two match suspension on Arnab along with a fine of Rs 5 lakh.

East Bengal has decided to stand behind Arnab and request the AIFF to reduce the fine. According to Debabrata Sarkar , “Arnab has made no racist remarks against Glen. It was Glen who was continuously disturbing Arnab saying – You Indian stopper, I will beat you. As a result of which Arnab lost his cool and threatened to beat him as well. It was Glen who started the entire problem.”

Mr Debabrata Sarkar further added that the club will go all out to see that Arnab gets justice. “We firmly believe that there were no racist remarks being passed against Glen by Arnab. The allegations by Glen are false and we would see that he is not spared as well.”

Arnab was suspended under Section 58 of AIFF Disciplinary Code which states, “Anyone who insults someone in anyway, especially by using offensive gestures or language,
will be sanctioned with a match suspension. If the perpetrator is a player, he will be
suspended for at least two (2) matches; if he is an official, he will be suspended for at least
four (4) matches. A minimum fine of Rs. 5,00,000/- shall be pronounced.”

East Bengal will be sending their official complain to the AIFF on Friday. According to AIFF senior vice president Subrata Dutta, “No complaints cannot be entertained without any circumstantial evidence. So,if East Bengal can produce any evidence along with the complaints, then the matter can be forwarded to AIFF Disciplinary Committee.”

East Bengal got the better of their arch rivals Mohun Bagan, winning the match 2-1 with Do Dong scoring a brace for Red and Golds. Katsumi Yusa reduced the margin for the Mariners.
