Internet Desk: Bengal skipper Manoj TIwary advised teammates not to get overexcited after the win over the first practice tournament win. He asked them to keep this performance through out the whole season.

“We will definitely celebrate this win. But the players have to keep in mind that this is only a practice tournament. W have to keep up this performance during the Ranji and other BCCI tournaments”, said the skipper.

Bengal won their pre-season tournament today. On the last day of Dr. K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament Bengal clinched victory against Karnataka State Cricket Association XI. Agniv Pan led the team batting line up towards an easy win. Also the other Bengal batsmen played good cricket to boost up the team ahead of Ranji Trophy.

Bengal skipper of this final match Pragyan Ojha praised Agniv Pan and Writtick Chatterjee for their match winning performance. “I asked the batsmen to take responsibility as leading batsman Manoj Tiwary was absent from this match. I said them that nobody keeps in mind the name of the runner-up. The innings Agniv and Writtick played today needs appraisal. Batting at the second innings chasing some amount of runs is never easy. But against a team like Karnataka these two played a splendid innings”, said Pragyan Ojha.

Apart from captain coach of Bengal Sairaj Bahutule also praised Agniv Pan. Regarding Agniv he said, “He has good talent. He will go far. He did not take pressure while chasing 180runs against a strong team. He kept himself cool and that is important to go far.”

However, as a wicketkeeper he needs to improve, said Bahutule. “He has a good temperament of a batsman. His technique is also good. However, he needs to improve his keeping”, added Bahutule. Agniv played as the Bengal wicket keeper for three matches in this tournament. But in the final match Satyabrata Murmu played as the wicket keeper.

However, the skipper did not praise any particular player. He said, “I won’t name any one or two. The team as a whole played good cricket. For this reason this result came out.”

Coach praised the whole team after this win. “From the beginning I knew that Bengal boys have potential. I helped them to raise their confidence level by talking to them. After winning the match I just thanked them as lots of matches are ahead. This is only a practice match”, praised Bahutule.

Today coach declared that, “Bengal team has senior players like Manoj Tiwary, Ashoke DInda and Pragyan Ojha. But these seniors do not keep distance from the juniors. They help and motivate the junior players. A team needs this kind of mentality to go ahead.”

The centre of attraction of today’s match Agniv Pan was excited after this match. He said, “I called my parents. They are really excited. I don’t know how much chance I would get after the return of Wriddhiman Saha. But I perform to the utmost of my ability.”

Now the Bengal skipper sounds relaxed having such good players. He said, “Any captain like to be under such pressure of plenty of good players included in a team. If any in form player gets injured the team will get a good replacement out of this team.”

After this win CAB joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya was praised the team. “Prior to this the team used to return from the knock out stage. This time that has not happened. But to me the best thing is that this time the team defeated teams like Mumbai and Karnataka and won the tournament”, lauded Avishek Dalmiya.

Meanwhile, Bengal will commence their training from 25th August while Mumbai senior team will visit to play few practice matches in Kolkata but the fixtures and schedules are yet to be decided.
