Daniel Vettori’s gesture towards BCB during COVID-19 will melt heart

XtraTime Web Desk: Bangladesh’s spin bowling Coach Daniel Vettori made a noble gesture towards Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) low income staffers during the coronavirus pandemic. The former New Zealand captain has decided to donate a part of his salary received from BCB to its low income staffs amid the financial hardship being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a report in Bangladesh’s leading daily ‘Prothom Alo’ , BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury was quoted, “Vettori has said that we should donate a specific part of his salary to the BCB’s low-income staff. He has officially informed the cricket operations committee.”

Vettori is currently the highest-paid support staff of Bangladesh national team. He earns a salary of USD 250,000 as part of his 100-day contract that runs till the end of the scheduled T20 World Cup later this year.

Bangladesh national cricketers, including those in the Under-19 category, and the players’ association too have contributed in the fight against COVID-19. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) also has donated Taka 3.61 crore (USD 428,000 approx.) to help tackle the crisis.
