Earlier, India adopted an aggressive approach in their second innings and posted 198 runs. Rishabh Pant once again entertained with his attacking strokeplay, scoring a valuable 66. Devdutt Padikkal contributed 44 runs, while KL Rahul made 35 as India set Sri Lanka a challenging target.
The hosts found themselves in serious trouble after losing four wickets. At stumps, captain Dhananjaya de Silva remained unbeaten on 31, while Sonal Dinusha, who scored a century in the first innings, was not out on 25.
India's new sensation Manav Suthar once again impressed with the ball, claiming two wickets in Sri Lanka's second innings. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna picked up one wicket each.
With Sri Lanka still 288 runs away from the target and India needing just six more wickets, the visitors are firmly in control. The final day promises to be a decisive one, with India looking to wrap up a convincing victory in Galle.
