Just like their male counterparts, India’s women’s cricket team also continued their dominance over Pakistan, thrashing their arch-rivals by seven wickets in the Asia Cup group-stage clash.
Pakistan were bowled out for just 55 runs in 18.1 overs, with India’s spinners completely dismantling their batting line-up. All 10 Pakistani wickets fell to Indian spinners, highlighting the visitors’ extraordinary dominance with the ball.
Shri Charani and Prema Rawat were the stars with the ball, claiming three wickets apiece. Charani conceded just seven runs, while Rawat gave away only nine. Deepti Sharma picked up two wickets, while Shafali Verma chipped in with one.
The defeat also left Pakistan with the unwanted record of their lowest-ever total in T20 cricket.
Chasing a modest target of 56, India made light work of the chase, reaching the winning score in just 8.4 overs after losing three wickets.
With this victory, India strengthened their commanding head-to-head record against Pakistan in T20Is, moving to a 15-3 advantage. Their dominance in the Asia Cup is even more striking, with India now leading the head-to-head record 7-1 in the tournament.
Harmanpreet Kaur and her team also completed the group stage unbeaten and secured their place in the semi-finals. India had already sealed their semi-final berth after registering victories over Hong Kong and Thailand.
The match also witnessed a major personal milestone for Shafali Verma. The explosive India opener became the youngest and fastest cricketer to reach 3,000 runs in T20 cricket, adding another landmark to her growing international career.
India will now head into the knockout stage high on confidence, having once again underlined their supremacy over Pakistan on the continental stage.
