The match was over, and then came the post-match press conference. That was when East Bengal head coach Habas lost his cool, launching a scathing attack on Inter Kashi. The Spanish coach had been in charge of Inter Kashi last season, but his stint there was marred by salary payment issues that affected both him and his players. Now, Habas has opened up about his bitter experience at the club.
“I worked at Inter Kashi for one year without getting paid. Not just me, but my players also did not receive their salaries. How, then, could they sign 22 players without clearing the pending payments? Who gave them this right? How can they be allowed to play in the ISL?” the Spanish coach questioned.
East Bengal had thrashed Inter Kashi 5-1 earlier in the day. Following the emphatic victory, Habas spoke out against his former club, expressing his frustration over the unpleasant experiences he had endured during his time there.
The East Bengal coach, however, acknowledged that his time at Inter Kashi was not entirely negative. He revealed that he shared many wonderful moments with the players at the club. Nevertheless, he made it clear that the overall experience, particularly the salary-related issues, had been extremely disappointing.
Habas's explosive remarks have once again brought the issue of unpaid salaries in Indian football into the spotlight, raising questions about club management and accountability in the ISL.
