BCCI COE Gives Clearance For Jasprit Bumrah To Participate in Two Test Sri Lanka Series

XtraTime Newsdesk: Jasprit Bumrah, India's pace spearhead, has been allowed to play the two-Test series against Sri Lanka next month by the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bangalore. Bumrah was selected subject to fitness after suffering an impact injury during the last ODI series against England. Due to the injury, he was forced to miss the third One-Day International at Lord's. Jasprit Bumrah has recovered from his impact injury. He passed the fitness tests prescribed by the COE. "Hopefully he will be available for both games because he is important to the team's plans," a top BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.

The two-Test series against the islanders will begin on August 15 in Galle, with the second match taking place in Colombo on August 23.

To be in contention for a summit battle, India must win seven of their remaining nine Tests in this World Test Championship cycle.

Winning the Sri Lanka series by 2-0 is critical before beginning on an away series against New Zealand, which will be a difficult task.

India are already missing Harshit Rana and Nitish Reddy, who have hamstring and quadriceps ailments, respectively. Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the first Test with a hamstring injury and Akash Deep is in the middle of a long lay-off following stress reactions on his back
