Asian Games 2026 Schedule Out; India vs Pakistan Only Possible In The Knockouts

XtraTime Newsweek: India's cricket teams will be in action at the Asian Games this year at Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The multi nation event is scheduled to take place from September 19th to October 4th this year with cricket making its 4th appearance this year. The schedule for this event has been released with the men's tournament starting on September 24th and the women's event on September 17th.

The top-seeded teams in the men's competition are India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, who have advanced directly to the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Afghanistan, Japan, and Nepal in Group A, and Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, and Oman in Group B, will compete for the remaining four quarter-final positions. The top two teams in each group will progress to the Top 8 stage.
The highly anticipated India-Pakistan match can only be played once during the Asian Games, either in one of the semi-finals or the final.
The Women in Blue will meet Japan in the T20 tournament's last eight. A victory would advance Harmanpreet Kaur's team to the semifinals against either Bangladesh or China, both of whom have been placed in the same half of the bracket.
The remaining quarter-final ties will pit Sri Lanka against Malaysia, while Pakistan will face Thailand, with the winners progressing to the second semi-final.
India will have experienced leaders in both tournaments. Harmanpreet Kaur will continue to captain the women's squad, with Smriti Mandhana as her deputy, while Shreyas Iyer will head the men's team alongside vice-captain Tilak Varma. Young batting star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has also been picked to India's 15-man men's team.
