Cricket Australia not ruling out the possibility of India test series in one or two venues

XtraTime Web Desk: Cricket Australia CEO Kevin Roberts on Friday has not ruled out the possibility of staging the forthcoming test series against India in one or two venues. In a video press conference via zoom, Roberts said, “That (schedule) assumes that state borders are open to domestic travel. It may be that circumstances dictate that when the time comes maybe we can only use one or two venues, we really don’t know any of that yet.”

He added, “There is a lot of variables based on whether we have four venues in four states or as little as one venue in one state. There’s endless scenarios and possibilities…”

Cricket Australia (CA) on Thursday announced that India will play the Tests at Brisbane (December 3-7), Adelaide (December 11-15), Melbourne (December 26-30) and Sydney (January 3-7) respectively.

However, CA chief executive Kevin Roberts said the schedule could change depending on the travel restrictions due to the health crisis.

There has been lot of debate about Cricket Australia’s decision to overlook Perth over Brisbane for the marquee test series. According to Roberts, both Perth and Brisbane may get an opportunity to host a test match for a marquee series if the two boards – BCCI and CA agree to have a five test match series in future.

“It’s fair to say that both nations share the desire to move to five Test series in the future, but we need to navigate that with respect to everything else in the calendar,” said Roberts.
