XtraTime Web Desk: It looks like Costa Rican World Cupper Johnny Acosta might not come back again to play for Kolkata giants East Bengal. At least the footballer’s latest post on his official instagram handle indicates so.
According to Acosta, “I close a cycle of my life, this time a little different. In a great institution to which I have a lot of love and respect, @Quess East Bengal Fc, but that in the end there were contract and salary issues that failed to comply, in addition to little help for my return to Costa Rica where the club showed little disposition and apathetic to my situation!

I keep the good times and I thank all the fans who always show their support I carry them in my heart, thank you @eastbengalfc”
The Costa Rican World Cupper joined East Bengal to strengthen their defence during I League last season. It was his second stint with the Kolkata giants. But as he arrived in Kolkata the coronavirus pandemic was just beginning to spread in India due to which the nation went into a lockdown. Acosta did not get an opportunity again to play for East Bengal as the Federation suspended the league, declaring Mohun Bagn as the champions. As East Bengal’s erstwhile investors Quess decided to part ways with the club, it led to issues regarding the player’s salary from last season. Most East Bengal footballer’s like Acosta had almost two months salary pending with the club. To make matters even worse for Johnny, there was problem with his return ticket. First the salary issues and then the turn of events regarding his return back to country may have led to the Costa Rican footballer to share such an emotional post.

Acosta will be leaving the city on Monday for his country. He will first travel to New Delhi from Kolkata. He will next take a flight to Washington from the capital en route to San Jose.
