Internet Desk: A local cricket club from Kashmir is in controversy after a video went viral on social media that the club’s players wore Pakistan cricket team’s jersey. The players also sang the national anthem of Pakistan before the match.

According to reports, the match was played at the Wayil grounds in Ganderbal on April 2. Extremist had called a hartal on that day to show their protest against PM Narendra Modi who visited Jammu and Kashmir to inaugurate the Chenani-Nashri tunnel.

The team that wore the Pakistani jersey is named after Baba Darya Ud Din, who is a very popular saint in Kashmir.

Before the match, the commentator announced that the Pakistani national anthem would be played before the start of the match as a ‘mark of respect’.

“We wanted our team to look different and also wanted to show fellow Kashmiris that we haven’t forgotten Kashmir issue, so we found this particular theme as most appropriate and catchy,” a player said.
