Chennai Super Kings’ star cricketer set to announce retirement from Test cricket

England cricketer Moeen Ali is set to retire from test cricket.

Xtra Time Web Desk: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all rounder Moeen Ali is set to announce retirement from Test cricket. The England cricketer has decided to call it a day in the longer format in order to focus on white ball cricket. As per reports in British media, Moeen has already informed England captain Joe Root and Head Coach Chris Silverwood about his decision.

Moeen Ali, who was included in the England test squad for the recent series against India at home has admitted he no longer enjoy playing the longest format of the game. The 34-year-old Ali is currently in the UAE playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL. Ali is uncomfortable with the prospect of an extended time away from home in the coming months as was required to be part of the England Ashes squad.

According to The Guardian, Silverwood and Root were accepting and understanding of Ali’s decision but the fact remains that it is another high profile player that will not be making the trip.
