Xtra Time Web Desk : FC Barcelona faced harsh reality on match day 6 of the UEFA Champions League as they got thrashed by 3-0 to a strong Bayern Munich side in Bavaria to make themselves play the Europa League for the first time in 17 years.

The match started well for the Catalunyan giants as they pressed their opponents to create quite a few opportunities which weren’t converted ultimately. And soon they faced the consequences of not taking up their chances when Muller opened the scoring for the Bavarian giants in the 34th minute, which was doubled by a golazo from his teammate Leroy Sane in the 43rd minute. In the second half though, teenager Jamal Musiala scored in the 62nd minute to make the night even worse for the Blaugrana, who did not found their way back into the match to see themselves getting dumped into the Europa League.

In the other match of this group, Benfica beat Dynamo Kyiv by a margin of 2-0 to qualify for the round of 16 along with group winners Bayern Munich, which resulted in Barcelona qualifying for the Europa League. Thus it will be quite odd to see the Spanish giants to play Thursday night football.
