XtraTime Web Desk: Mohammedan Sporting hands Mohun Bagan a shock defeat to keep their title dreams alive in the Calcutta Football League Premier Division ‘A’. The Black Panthers defeated the Mariners by 3-2 in a pulsating contest at the VYBK today.
Kareem Omoloja, Tirthankar Sarkar and John Chidi scored Mohammedan Sporting, while Joseba Beitia and Salva Chamorro reduced the margin for the Green and Maroon brigade.
On the flip side, league toppers Peerless continued their chase for the first ever CFL title with a 2-0 win over other title contender Bhowanipore AC at the Barasat Stadium today. Edmond and Jiten Murmu scored the goals for Jahar Das’ side.
The win puts Peerless in a comfortable position in the league table with 17 points off the 8 games they played, while Mohun Bagan jumps on to the 2nd spot with 16 points off 9 games.
