Xtra Time Web Desk: Mohun Bagan Super Giant has already begun preparations for the upcoming ISL and AFC Cup. The Durand Cup is also just a week away. The team’s new domestic and foreign footballers, including Jason Cummings, Sadiku, Anirudh Thapa, and Sahal Abdul Samad, have initiated their training on the Mohun Bagan grounds. Florentin Pogba is also practicing. Hamill arrived in the city on Thursday night and Dimitri Petratos will join soon. However, amidst all this, experienced foreign midfielder Carl McHugh has left Mohun Bagan.

In the past season, McHugh was one of the key members of the ISL-winning team for the Green & Maroon Brigade. Besides playing as a central defensive midfielder, Carl also shouldered responsibilities in the defense. His unexpected departure has surprised the Indian football fraternity. It is heard that FC Goa is likely to sign McHugh. He will be Goa’s fifth foreign signing.

With the news of McHugh’s departure, it naturally raises questions about Mohun Bagan’s management relying on Pogba. It seems Mohun Bagan management is searching for a high-profile foreign center back who will help Anwar Ali to anchor their defense.
