Kolkata: Indian cricketer S Sreesanth is gearing up for his new film titled ‘Team 5’ which will hit the theatres on July 14. Sreesanth will be seen as a bike racer in his new release.

The 34-year-old right-arm pacer, who has stayed away from cricket ever since the match fixing scandal broke out, is all set for his third silver screen appearance. His earlier two releases have been ‘Big Picture’ in 2015 and Pooja Bhatt’s ‘Cabaret’.

Team 5 will be released together in all main South Indian languages in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu as well as in Hindi.

Nikki Galrani is playing the female lead role in the film.

Speaking exclusively about his new release to xtratime.in correspondent Sabyasachi Bagchi, Sreesanth said, “I am very excited about Team 5. I play the role of Akhil who is a bike racer in the film. The film is about the passion of a bike racer. This is a typical South Indian melo-drama.”

Although the film is being released in all the main South Indian languages, the producers are also planning to release the film in Bengali, Bhojpuri and Punjabi as well.

Sreesanth, who is fighting a lifetime ban imposed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) following the IPL 2013 spot-fixing and betting scandal, is simultaneously consolidating his position in the moving industry.

“God has really been kind to me for giving me another opportunity. I am happy to carry on with my acting and political career. I believe there is still more to offer in my life.”

“My identity is a cricketer and I would forever love to live on this identity,” signs off Sreesanth.
