Kolkata : The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is set to adopt a “ Wait & Watch ” policy on  most of the recommendations of the Lodha committee.

The ‘managing committee’ of the CAB had an elaborate discussion on the recommendations on Wednesday . Barring a few , most of the recommendations got a disapproval among the committee members . The CAB has called a special general meeting on January 29 to ascertain the members’ view on the Justice Lodha panel recommendations and then put it forward to the BCCI.

The managing committee members consisting the office bearers along with state minister Subrata Mukherjee sat down to discuss the issue . State sports minister Aroop Biswas however, couldn’t make it to the meeting.

According to sources, the ‘managing committee’, however, gave its approval to only three following

recommendations – having an independent auditor to verify how the full members have expended the grants given to them by the BCCI, the transparency aspect wherein the BCCI must provide the relevant information in discharge of its public functions and the recommendations in respect of limited tenure for its office-bearers with a maximum of three terms of three years with a cooling-off period after each such term.

On the conflict of interest issue, the ‘managing committee’ agreed that the BCCI ombudsman was the right man to decide.

The two recommendations that faced stiff resistance were the ones pertaining to a person being disqualified as an office-bearer if he or she is a minister or government servant and an office-bearer being 70 years or more.

The issue of one state one association did not come up for discussion .
