Ben Stokes returns to England ODI squad at the expense of Harry Brook for New Zealand series

Xtra Time Web Desk: The England Men’s selection panel has unveiled the squads for the upcoming One-Day International Series and T20I Series against New Zealand. Ben Stokes, reversing his decision to retire from ODIs, makes his return to the squad. Additionally, uncapped Surrey fast bowler Gus Atkinson joins the 15-player ODI squad.

The T20I Series squad includes three players who are new to the 20-over format: Atkinson, Josh Tongue, and John Turner. Tongue debuted earlier this summer in the Test against Ireland, while Hampshire’s right-arm bowler Turner marks his first inclusion in an England squad.

Luke Wright, England Men’s National Selector, expressed enthusiasm about the robustness of both squads, highlighting the wealth of talent in white-ball cricket. He underscored Stokes’ match-winning prowess and leadership, anticipating fans’ excitement about his ODI return.
