BCCI open to sending team to Sri Lanka to play limited overs series in July

XtraTime Web Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is open to sending team to Sri Lanka to play limited overs series comprising of three ODIs and three T20Is in July, provided it gets the government nod.
According to the BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal, “It all depends on government directives pertaining to lockdown relaxations and travel restrictions. We are open to travel if it doesn’t compromise safety and health of our boys.”

The Sri Lankan Cricket Board had written to BCCI, offering to host India in a closed door six match series in July end, if the Indian cricketers are ready to follow quarantine rules. India were originally scheduled to travel to the island nation to play a limited overs series but the coronavirus pandemic has forced it to be rescheduled.

Once the lockdown is relaxed a bit then most of the Indian cricketers will be allowed to train outdoors on their own. BCCI is also trying to organize a camp for the cricketers once the lockdown is lifted.

A majority of the players, living in metro cities have been limited to fitness drills, with no space even to run. The Indian board is still waiting for government directives, before they can organize an outdoor skills camp for the players.

Given the timelines, it appears unlikely that the series can take place at such a short notice.
