ATK is coming back to Indian Football

Xtra Time Web Desk : Indian football welcomes back Atletico de Madrid as the club reenters the Indian football scene, thanks to the bid paper presented by YMS Finance Private Limited from Kolkata. On Tuesday, the All India Football Federation announced that five organizations from various parts of the country have received the I-League bid for the 2023-24 season. One of these organizations is Kolkata’s YMS Finance Private Limited.

News suggests that Atletico de Madrid has joined hands with this organization to make a comeback in Indian football, with the bid paper being presented by them. According to the news, this organization from Kolkata has raised a bid for a football club from Kashi.

But who is this organization from Kolkata? According to the news, YMS Finance is now bringing back Atletico de Madrid in Indian football. Previously, Atletico de Madrid had a 25% stake in Atletico de Kolkata in the Indian Super League (ISL). The remaining 75% was owned by Sanjiv Goenka, Utsav Parekh, Sourav Ganguly, and Harshvardhan Neotia. However, Atletico de Madrid had a split with the team afterward.

Nevertheless, this Spanish club is once again eager to return to Indian football, and the bid paper is considered as proof of their intention. However, Atletico de Madrid is not returning alone; they are also bringing back “ATK” with them. If this team from Kashi plays, their name will be changed to “Atletico de Kashi,” abbreviated as “ATK.”

Why did YMS Finance choose Kashi? One reason is believed to be the revival of the ATK name. Additionally, there is no football team from Uttar Pradesh. Hence, bringing football to Uttar Pradesh is considered another reason for their interest.

Although Mohun Bagan removed ATK from their name, this popular ‘ATK’ name is not completely erased from Indian football. It is likely that we will see the ATK team in the I-League once again.
