Asia Cup 2022: Sri Lanka Cricket desperate to host the tournament for this reason

Xtra Time Web Desk: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is desperate to host the upcoming Asia Cup 2022. Despite the ongoing crisis, the Sri Lankan cricket authorities want the tournament to be held in the island nation because the board might lose revenue worth $6 million if it is not staged.

Sri Lanka Cricket officials during their visit to India literally pleaded with Asian Cricket Council President and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah to not move Asia Cup out of Island Nation.

The visiting Australian team is already in Sri Lanka and the series will commence from June 7. Much will depend on the successful completion of the series between Sri Lanka and Australia.

The Asian Cup 2022 is scheduled to be played from August 27 to September 11. Before the main event, ACC had planned a qualification tournament. The Qualification event will be played from August 20. This Qualification event will decide on the sixth team in the competition.
