‘Angry’ Sushil Kumar pulls out of inaugural Pro Wrestling League

Sushil-KumarNew Delhi: The inaugural Proffessional Wrestling League was  dealt with  a major blow  as Sushil Kumar, double Olympic medallist, pulled himself out of the tournament that started in New Delhi from Thursday. He was part of Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma co-owned Uttar Pradesh (UP) Warriors. The 2012 London Olympics silver medallist was annoyed the way he was treated from the beginning. After the league was announced. The latest tweet from Parth Jindal, owner of the Bengaluru franchise has added to his ire.

According to sources Sushil has made up his mind and won’t join the league.Purevjavyn Onorbat from

Mongolia has been   named  as Sushil’s replacement in the UP team. Onorbat won silver at the 2015

World Championships. Indian wrestler  Narsingh Yadav also won  bronze and bagged the quota for the

2016 Rio Olympics at the same tournament. Sushil hasn’t signed the contract till now.  He neither confirm this nor did he gave any statement on this issue. If Sushil stays adamant to his decision they already have the replacement in the 74 kg division which also includes Narsingh Singh. Wrestling Federation of India and Pro Sportify, the commercial rights holder of the league, were pretty confident that Sushil will take part in the wrestling league.  Sushil  was declared  the icon player for the UP Warriors. He was bought by the UP warriors by a whopping amount of  38.20 lakhs. Sushil earlier had told the officials that he was not happy  with the auction process, Sushil had made his views known that as an icon player he wasn’t comfortable with the idea of going under the hammer as an item. At the auction  Ukraine’s female wrestler Oksana Herhel was  costliest among the wrestlers.  She was bought for Rs 41.3 lakh. His team UP Warriors then announced that Sushil will get more – Rs 11 lakh as a token of respect. The announcement sort of confirmed that Sushil was given more money to soothe his ego. He earlier told the media  that he had never played for money.he  will donate the money  from the league to charity.
