Angela-ReakesMelbourne , December 22 : Australian women cricketer Angela Reakes has been banned for 2 years by Cricket Australia for placing a $9 bet on the Men’s World Cup final. Reakes who plays the Big Bash with the Sydney Sixers has breached the Article 2.2.1 of the code (Placing, accepting, laying or entering into any bet in relation to the result, progress, conduct or any other aspect of any match or event). Australia won the World Cup Final in March beating New Zealand. James Faulkner named the man of the match.

Reakes also received an official reprimand and is required to participate in CA’s anti-corruption compliance education to other cricketers in coming seasons. Reakes has been found guilty of placing five bets on the ‘man-of-the-match’ betting market.
