Xtra Time Web Desk: Three wickets in the final session helped India claw back into the second test match against England at Lords. After getting India bowled out for 364 runs, the hosts are 119/3 at stumps on Day 2 with England captain Joe Root batting on 48 runs.

England were 23-2 inside three balls of the final session, with opener Dom Sibley failing yet again, giving a catch to KL Rahul at short mid wicket and Haseeb Hameed departing next ball off Siraj. Joe Root and Rory Burns (49) were involved in a 85 runs partnership before Shami removed the England opener.

Root survived two strong lbw appeals from Siraj when on 11 – Virat Kohli reviewing and losing both – before he and Burns then cashed in as the day grew longer. The hosts are still trailing by 245.

England started Day 2 on a positive note with centurion KL Rahul (129) giving a catch at short cover off  Ollie Robinson’s (2-73) first delivery. The following over Anderson struck with his first ball, inducing the edge from Ajinkya Rahane’s (1) dangled bat through to Root at first slip. The veteran pacer took his 31st five wicket haul in test cricket as the visitors lost last 7 wickets for 88 runs to be bowled out for 364 runs.

Danger-man Rishabh Pant, as expected, counter punched, first flaying Anderson away for four over backward point before twice pulling Robinson away in front of square to the fence. Finally Mark Wood removed Pant after inducing an edge to the slips. The wicketkeeper batsman scored 37 runs. Ravi Jadeja (40) played responsibly at the other end to take the score past 350.
