Xtratime Web desk: Uruguay and Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez have denied any kind of rivalry with Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to international football.

Luis Suarez insisted any rivalry he had with Cristiano Ronaldo was limited to their battles in LaLiga with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Suarez’s Uruguay face of Ronaldo’s Portugal in the Round of 16 stage in Sochi on Saturday.

But the Barcelona forward played down any rivalry with Real Madrid star Ronaldo, saying that the World Cup and international football was a completely different story.

“When it comes to Ronaldo at club level, that’s different,” Suarez said.

“We all try to do our best for our team. This is a World Cup.”

“We are defending and working for our national team. That’s the essential aspect.”

Ronaldo and Suarez both enjoyed and played an integral part in their respective nations qualification to the knockout stage with both scoring 4 and 2 goals respectively. Suarez’s Uruguay topped the group without conceding a single goal whereas Ronaldo and co finished 2nd with 5 points.
