Xtra Time Web Desk: India captain Virat Kohli is on the verge of setting multiple milestones as he walks out to bat during the 2nd ODI against England at MCA stadium in Pune on Friday. Kohli is one hundred shy from equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring most centuries at home. Master blaster has scored 20 hundreds in India while Kohli is one short to equal that record.

Kohli would also surpass former Australia captain Ricky Ponting with the most number of centuries in international cricket across all forms of cricket. As of now, Kohli and Ponting have 41 centuries each in one day internationals. A century in the 2nd ODI at Pune will help Kohli overtake Ponting with the most number of tons in ODIs. The duo scored 21 centuries as a skipper in the ODIs.

The Indian captain is also on the verge of breaking former Proteas skipper Graeme Smith’s record of scoring most runs as captain. Kohli needs 41 runs to go past Smith as the scorer of most runs as captain. Smith had scored 5416 runs in 150 ODIs as captain while Kohli has so far scored 5,376 runs in 93 ODIs as captain of India.

Australia skipper Ricky Ponting is placed No.1 in the list with 8497 runs in 234 matches, MS Dhoni is placed second with 6641 runs in 200 ODIs. Stephen Fleming and Arjun Ranatunga are placed 3rd and 4th on the list.
