Internet Desk: The All-India Women’s Selection Committee met earlier today to select the India Women’s Cricket Team for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2017.

Smriti Mandhana made a return to the 15 member Indian squad of 15 named for the competition. Mithali Raj has been named the captain of the squad. Apart from Mandhana there are no other surprise inclusions. It is almost the same team that is currently taking part in the ongoing Quadrangular Series in South Africa.

Mandhana picked up a knee injury while playing in the Big Bash League. The injury kept her out of the

Quadrangular series in South Africa. She replaced Devika Vaidya in the squad that is currently in South Africa.

Deepti Sharma, who scored a record 188 against Ireland Women today in Potchefstroom, was rewarded with a World Cup berth. The 19-year-old’s century was the second-highest individual score in Women’s ODIs, en route the highest-ever partnership across formats, of 320 runs, along with Punam Raut.

India will kick-start their campaign against England on June 24 in Derby, while New Zealand take on Sri Lanka on the same day. The final will be played on July 23 in London.
