Internet Desk: The Indian team after inflicting a 3-0 whitewash on foreign soil and taking a 1-0 lead in the ODI series looks all set to continue their dominating run as they prepare to face off hosts ahead of the second ODI to be held at Pallekele. On a pre match conference Indian team’s bowling Coach Bharat Arun shared his thoughts.

As per bowling plans are concerned young Hardik Pandya could get a chance with the new ball in the ongoing ODI series. “If you look at Hardik, he works up very good speeds and bowls 135 plus consistently and we need to have our options open throughout so we like to try out different bowlers at different points of time.”

“More than me I think Hardik wants to bowl those 10 overs and he does understand that to bowl those 10 overs he needs to work more on his skill and become more skillful and he is someone who works really hard and he is not afraid of trying different things. So my job is a lot easier to be working with somebody like Hardik who wants to upgrade on his skill.

Star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was dropped/rested for the ODI series after being highly successful in the test series. ” This question should be asked to the selectors but as bowling coach I think he is an extremely talented bowler and even if you look at his last ODI which he played in west indies, he has got 3 for 25 I am not sure, but Ashwin is very very skillful.”

“I don’t want to look at what has happened so far. But definitely yes Ashwin is also part of the ODI team which we are looking at. We would also like to give a lot of opportunities to other bowlers as well and then we have a long term plan in place. And then we will take a call accordingly.” He added.

When questioned about the best improved bowler Arun said, “It is not fair for me to single out any particular bowler. If you look at the bowling unit as a whole there has been tremendous improvement since the last couple of years and its not right on my part to single out any particular bowler for this thing.”
