XtraTime Web Desk: Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has revealed the reason behind his success in South Africa. Virat had a dream run in the Proteas tour, as he was the highest run getter from either side in Test as well as ODI series. He scored 286 runs with an astonishing average of 47.65 in three Test matches, on the other hand his ODI total was 558 runs with a tremendous average of 186 from six games.

While talking about his dream run in the series, Kohli finally admitted that he made a few adjustments in his game after observing South African maestro AB de Villiers. The adjustments helped Virat to score big in South Africa.

“I actually learnt something from him in the recent Test series that we played. I made that adjustment to my game, which I haven’t told him about yet,” Kohli said during an interview with NDTV.

“I used to tap my bat right at the end before playing a ball which worked for me in the shorter format where the ball was not moving that much. But then I saw him playing Bumrah and ball beating him but the ball won’t hit him because he was so correct with what he was doing. And then I wondered as to why I was edging the ball. I then went back and analysed and saw how still his head was. I then stopped tapping the bat and it made my head more still and I started scoring runs in the Test after that,” Kohli told NDTV.

Under Virat Kohli’s leadership, India made a classy comeback during their tour of South Africa. After losing the Test series 1-2, they thrashed the hosts in ODIs by 5-1. Last but not the least, the visitors also won the T20I series 2-1.

Kohli is currently leading Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League season 11. A couple of days back he scored an unbeaten 92 against Mumbai Indians and became the leading run-getter in the history of IPL as he surpassed his Indian teammate Suresh Raina.
