Kolkata: A big chaos took place in the evening outside the Mohun Bagan tent last evening. Some East Bengal fans were returning beside the Green and Maroon club tent after the match against Tollygunge Agragami. The Bagan fans alleged that, few East Bengal supporters misbehaved with both men and women supporters who were standing outside the tent during that time. When they tried to protest against those persons, a few Red & Gold fans threw bricks at the Mohun Bagan tent and broke the sign board of the club. Later the Green and Maroon supporters filed a complaint against those East Bengal fans at Maidan Police station, Mohun Bagan Ground Secretary Swapan Banerjee (Babun) too reached the police station and told the duty officer everything that happened at the club.

After that incident East Bengal club officials visited the Mohun Bagan club to talk with Bagan officials regarding this matter. At the end of the meeting Mohun Bagan finance secretary Debashish Dutta looked pretty satisfied after the meeting.” After today it has been proved that both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal are the two pillars of Indian football. We are very happy that the East Bengal officials have showed the courage to meet us after that incident. We have discussed that these kinds of things are bad advertisements of Kolkata football and we should keep the battle between the two for just 90 minutes in the field. Both the teams will battle to win the league on September 24, but the supporters should understand that after 90 minutes of play we all are the same and the peace between the two sides should be maintained,” said Debasish Dutta.

On being asked whether they would withdraw the FIR which was filled last night, Debasish Dutta added,” We haven’t filled any case for East Bengal Club. It has been done against some people who are a disgrace in the name of football and both the clubs want to punish those goons. The East Bengal officials too haven’t asked us to withdraw the complaint which shows that they are really a big club of Indian football.”

East Bengal club official Debabrata Sarkar said,” This is a culture of Kolkata Maidan that we used to visit our Mohun Bagan club at times, they also do the same thing too. During my childhood days I saw Manna Da visited our club on the other hand Poltu Da, Doctor Da too visited Mohun Bagan club. We totally condemn what happened here last night. I want to request the supporters of both the clubs not to do these kinds of things. We should understand that the battle should be limited only for 90 minutes inside the ground.”
