Kolkata: A working committee meeting was held on Monday at Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) in the evening,where a proposal was raised regarding the naming of the seven stands at Eden Gardens in the names of the CAB presidents who have ever sat on the chairs.
The proposed names are of ex cricketer A.N.Ghosh, Late former ICC, BCCI and CAB President Shri Jagmohan Dalmiya, Ex Indian Captain and present CAB President Sourav Ganguly, Ex Indian Test Captain Pankaj Roy, Ex Chief Minister of West Bengal as well as CAB President Shri Siddhartha Sankar Roy, Snehangsu Acharya, Former BCCI and CAB President Viswanath Dutta. Sourav Ganguly’s name was raised long ago by Shri Jagmohan Dalmiya before his death, again his name was raised today by Mr. Biswarup Dey. The reports are coming that it will be done after the India vs New Zealand Test.
One the other hand, just like the “Lords Bell” there will be an Eden Bell at The Eden Gardens which will be hanged just beneath the Eden Time before the India vs New Zealand test match at Eden Gardens. The “Eden Bell” has already arrived at Kolkata. The engineers told that it carries 107 kg weight and it is 2.5ft of length.
The tickets of India vs New Zealand test series will be sold from tomorrow onwards and the prices of the tickets are 500, 700 and 1000 and CAB will distribute 25 tickets each to their affiliated academies. The last time India played against New Zealand at Eden Gardens, was 50 years back,now they are playing against the Kiwis again after a long period at Eden Gardens, this will also be stated in the ticket.
Besides, the Bengal Ranji team will play two practice matches at Kalyani’s BCA Stadium against Jharkhand from 22nd to 24th Septemberand 26th to 28th September. From the sources it is known that most of the senior players like Manoj Tiwari, Ashok Dinda, Sreevats Goswami, Sudip Chatterjee would be rested in these matches and all the junior players will get their chances in the game.
