Internet Desk: Indian Premier League (IPL) season 11 is knocking the door as we all now that the players auction has already happened on January 27 and 28 in Bengaluru. All the eight franchises have bought a lot of renowned internationals as well as some talented new players. As the new season is just a couple of months away we will talk about these five players who did really well for their franchises in one or two seasons to raise the eye brows of a lot of cricket fans but lost their way after that and later they all were forgotten.
Paul Valthaty: Everyone started talking about this lad after he scored a match-winning century against two-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings while playing for Kings XI Punjab back in 2011. He played as a opening batsman for the side since 2012. He was one of the few cricketers who took four wickets as well as scored a half-century in same IPL matches. Though after the IPL 2012 season none of the franchise showed their interest of buying him again.
Manvinder Bisla: In 2011 he was signed by the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. He played as the wicket keeper of KKR in first 5 matches as Brad Haddin was yet to join the team. He opened the batting with legendary Jacques Kallis from South Africa and also shared a partnership of 145 with Kallis. In his first season for KKR back in 2012, he played 7 matches and scored 213 runs with 1 half century in the final match of the cash rich league.
He played a match winning knock of 89 runs from just 48 deliveries against the Chennai Super Kings in the final of the IPL in the 2012 season to guide his team to its maiden title win. He received the Man of the Match award for this magical knock. He was a part of KKR till 2014 and after that he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore back in the year 2015 but only represented in two matches. After that season he didn’t get any team in IPL.
Kamran Khan: He was an Indian cricketer who used to bowl left-arm fast-medium. He played in the Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals and later Pune Warriors, and represented Uttar Pradesh and Colts at domestic level.
After impressing Darren Berry, the Rajasthan director of coaching, in a suburban Twenty20 tournament, Khan was given a contract worth about $24,000 with Rajasthan for the second season of the IPL. He made his T20 debut before having played a first-class match. Kamran got instant fame and success after he guided his team to victory in an edge-of-the-seat thriller against Kolkata Knight Riders. Though after 2013 he left cricket for some unknown reasons.
Swapnil Asnodkar: He is an Indian first-class cricketer who plays for Goa. He formed a strong opening partnership with South African captain Graeme Smith. By the end of the tournament they had scored 418 runs together at an average of 59.71 – the highest of the tournament. In the seven IPL matches he played, he scored 244 runs at 34.86 with a strike rate of 127.08. On his IPL debut against Kolkata Knight Riders, he scored 60 runs from 34 balls. Though he still plays for Goa but he couldn’t continue his earlier form later in his career.
Siddharth Trivedi: In the inaugural season of IPL back in 2008, legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne lauded the 25-year-old quick bowler who used to bowl with a unconventional slinging action. After his brilliant show in the IPL the cricket pundits were considering him as a future prospect of Indian bowling line-up. Though after a poor 2013 IPL season, the quick bowler lost his color and went out of contention and didn’t get any chance after that. Later he also admitted that he took money from bookies during the 2013 IPL scandle.
