Serie A: Napoli crowned champions after 33 years since Maradona helped them win the title in 1989-90

Xtra Time Web Desk: There were wild scenes at Stadio Friuli as Victor Osimhen equalized from a rebound in the 52’ minute as Napoli managed a 1-1 draw against Udinese to be crowned the champions of Serie A after 33 years. It was the first Serie A title for the club from Naples after Diego Maradona helped them win two titles in 1986-87 and 1989-90. The draw meant second placed Lazio with 64 points cannot go past Napoli who are on 80 points with five game remaining.

Udinese’s Sandi Lovric dampened the spirits of Napoli fans when he scored the opening goal after 13 minutes, with a well-placed shot that found the top-right corner of the box.

Victor Osimhen sparked jubilant celebrations among the visiting fans when he fired in the equaliser from a rebound in the 53rd minute.

As the final whistle blew, Napoli supporters rushed onto the pitch to celebrate the momentous occasion alongside the players.

The architects of the league title are Kvaratskhelia, Victor Osimhen, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Alex Meret and Kim Min Jae. It was the first big title for coach Luciano Spaletti.
