Internet Desk: Construction of Olympic venue of Rio has come under question further as the main sailing venue collapsed due to stormy sea. On Saturday a portion of Marina da Gloria collapsed damaging a coach boat. The affected area of the sailing venue is the main course to enter the main sailing portion of the sea.
The temporary structure secures the boats to reach the main course. However, practice will not be affected as the boats can use the permanent ramp to the side of the damaged structure, Philip Wilkinson, Rio 2016’s spokesman said.
The Olympic organizer committee is citing the reason of this collapse high tide and stormy wind. They have called the construction company in-charge of the structure. They have also promised that the damage will be repaired within four days. The sailing competition will inaugurate on 8th August.
However, International Olympic Committee spokesman Mark Adams said “it would be wrong to make a great deal” of the Marina da Gloria incident. He also added, “In the run-up to the games, things happen”. The same tide and story wind not only affected the sailing venue area. Report of damage has also been reported from TV studios on Copacabana Beach near the volleyball arena.
