Rohit Sharma’s latest initiative will make every Indian proud

Internet Desk: A Sri Lanka cricket team fan revealed that India’s star batsman Rohit Sharma personally helped him to reach Colombo to meet his father who was suffering with throat cancer. A Sri Lanka supporter named, Mohamed Nilam, who was travelling with the Sri Lankan team in India with his two friends. He was informed that about his father’s health during the third Test in Delhi and he had to reach Colombo immediately for his father’s surgery, be he didn’t have sufficient money to book a new flight ticket. Sudhir Gautam, who is well known as the superfan of Sachin Tendulkar talked with India skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma about this matter. ‘Hitman’ immediately responded and arranged return ticket for Nilam.

“Rohit called me to the team hotel and gave me the (Rs 20,000 approx) ticket. The surgery went well. I was disturbed when I heard about my father’s health, Rohit has a big heart and he immediately arranged for my return ticket. He is a gem of a person,” Nilam told Mid-Day.

Beside that Rohit also offered financial help to Nilam for his father’s surgery, but the Lanka fan refused to take any help regarding that.

Virat too got in touch with the Lankan to ask him whether he needed any help.

“When Virat bhai came to know about my father’s health, he too messaged me and asked if I needed any help. I congratulated Virat bhai on his wedding. I feel blessed and lucky to get so much love from Indian cricketers. They have always been very helpful in arranging match tickets whenever we come to watch them,” Nilam added.

Yesterday, Rohit hit a double century and completed his third ODI double ton (208*) and helped his side to win the game by 141 runs to level the three-match ODI series 1-1.
