Rumeli Dhar made a memorable come back

Sabyasachi Bagchi: Rumeli Dhar had an injury in her shoulder which ruled her out from Indian Women’s cricket team for last six years. She was depressed and frustrated but never gave up as she played as an all – rounder in the domestic leagues and performed well.

Dhar came back yesterday from South Africa and while talking to www.xtratime.in from her Delhi residence, she said, “It was tough to come back after six long years. I have seen many ups and downs in my life but I didn’t give up and that’s the reason I made a comeback in national squad. She talked about her special friend and her family who helped a lot in her journey to come back as she said, “Not only my parents but also a special friend of mine was with me. I am grateful to them and they were happier than me after getting the news that I got selected for the national team.”

She doesn’t want to forget her bitter memories as she got much needed resources for her life. She said, “I became frustrated and became angry on myself but I had the belief on myself.”

She replaced her long time team mate Jhulan Goswami as she ruled out for her injury in the T20 series against South Africa. She failed to perform well in the fourth T20I but came back in the next game as she got three wickets in her 4 overs and among them two were the openers. Head coach of India Tushar Arothe praised  her performance as she said, “The coach and the long time colleagues have made me more motivated because the coach is the biggest support to a player, and personally, I didn’t want to miss that opportunity.”

She performed well as an all rounder in the domestic season as she played for Delhi, Rajasthan, Assam and then she did well in the Proteas series. “My duty is to work hard and perform well. If I can do so, the selectors and the coach will certainly select me for the team. I proved myself in the South Africa tour.”Rumeli said.

Selectors didn’t pick her for the ODI series against Australia she said, “I will fight for the place as I did earlier.”
