Internet Desk: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Anurag Thakur has been appointed in the Finance and Commercial Affairs committee of the International Cricket Council at its recent board meeting in Capetown. The appointment of Thakur in the powerful committee of the ICC comes in the wake of recent controversy surrounding the absence of  any BCCI representative in the Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee.

BCCI had raised objections about not having its representative in the F&CA committee and senior officials in the board termed it as a humiliation with Shashank Manohar being chairman of global body.

BCCI had also raised objections about the proposed budget for next year’s Champions Trophy and the board felt that their absence in F&CA has been a reason for it.

According to ICC rules Thakur was automatically part of the F&CA committee, once he was made the Chairman of Development Committee of ICC.

Former BCCI president N Srinivasan was the chairman of F&CA. Thakur’s presence in the powerful committee will mean that BCCI will have a bigger say in revenue related decisions as well as governance structure.
