Navdeep Saini rattles the stumps with his first delivery for Worcestershire | Watch Video

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India pacer Navdeep Saini celebrated his selection into the Indian test squad with a wicket first ball for Worcestershire. The fast bowler from Haryana was recently selected in India’s test squad for the series against West Indies.

Saini is currently playing County Championship Division Two for Worcestershire. The tall lanky pacer bowled Derbyshire opener Harry Came with a perfect inswinger as he misjudged the line, only to see the ball kiss the timber.

The 30-year-old Saini has signed a four-match deal with Worcestershire, but after the India call-up, he might have to cut his stint short. He is unlikely to play against Yorkshire (July 10-13), Leicestershire (July 19-22) and Gloucestershire (July 26-29).

30-year-old Saini will be making a comeback in the Indian test side. He last played for India in the famous test win against Australia at Gabba in 2021. Saini made his test debut in the same series at Sydney. So far in his two test matches, he has picked 4 wickets.

With the absence of Mohammed Shami and injury to Jasprit Bumrah, there is possibility of Saini getting an opportunity. The Indian pace attack for the two test matches has the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat and Mukesh Kumar.
