Internet Desk : After stumps on day 1 with the score of 29/1 Mumbai forwarded their innings stadily on day 2 as Kaustubh Pawar and Suryakumar Yadav both scored century for Mumbai to give a strong fight to New Zealand on the second day of the warm-up match at Firoz Shah Kotla in New Delhi on Saturday.

However Rohit Sharma , who was able to retain his place in India’s test squad for the New Zealand series inspite of his off form failed to score in a flat track and was out for merely 18 runs .

Mumbai played brilliantly on a flat wicket, with Pawar 100 off 228 balls, Yadav 103 off 86, Siddhesh Lad 86 not out off 62 and ameture Arman Jaffer 69 off 123 scoring most of the runs.

Resuming their innings at 29 for one Mumbai went on to reach 431 for five by stumps on day two after New Zealand had posted 324 for 7 on the opening day.

For the visitors it was a bad day in the office , as their quick bowlers were very much frustrated to bowl on a flat track under the heating sun . They were heavily dependent on their spin trio Ish Sodhi, Mitchell Satner and Mark Craig , but they also failed to make an impact in the game .

Looking ahead to the Test series, the lone disappointment from the India’s point was the early fall of Rohit, who also featured in the Duleep Trophy final to gain some form .
