Mohun Bagan to receive their I-League trophy on this day

XtraTime Web Desk: Current I-League champions Mohun Bagan will finally receive their much awaited trophy on October 17, 2020 at Club Tent premises by maintaining all necessary Covid-19 protocols. After the Green and Maroon Brigade won the title with a few matches left, a total lockdown took place in India due to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic. For that reason the All India Football Federation (AIFF) didn’t present them the trophy.

There was an Executive Committee meeting held at the Mohun Bagan Club on Wednesday. In the meeting a decision was taken that the Club Tent would be opened on October 16, 2020 for members and supporters. The Committee further discussed the matter of receiving the coveted Hero I-League 2019-20 Champion Trophy and after thorough discussion resolved that on Saturday, October 17, 2020 a ceremony will be organized at Club Tent premises for receiving of the Trophy by maintaining all necessary Covid-19 protocols. In this matter a letter was sent to Mr. Sunando Dhar, CEO, I-League who has confirmed date and has further assured that Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary, AIFF would be present to handover the trophy on the day.

 In the above mentioned meeting Hony. Finance, Mr. Debashis Dutta apprised the Executive Committee Members that as per the term sheet signed with RPSG (MoU) which was discussed and passed in the last Executive Committee meeting held on January 20, 2020 and subsequently passed in the Annual General Meeting held on February 15, 2020. In accordance with term sheet an agreement has been executed and signed between Kolkata Games & Sports Private Limited and Mohun Bagan Football Club (India) Private Limited to form a Joint Venture Company (JVC). Mr. Srinjoy Bose and Mr. Debashis Dutta placed the agreement copy and explicitly explained the terms and conditions to the Executive Committee and the power sharing pattern of the JVC.

They further mentioned that the JVC formed after amalgamation is called “ATK Mohun Bagan Private Limited” which will exclusively take care of all the football activities only. The remaining sporting activities of the club such as Cricket, Hockey, Tennis and Athletics will remain under the jurisprudence of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club.  The Executive Committee appreciated and applauded the efforts. They hailed Hony. General Secretary Mr. Srinjoy Bose and Hony. Finance Secretary Mr. Debashis Dutta for understanding the emotion of millions of fans by keeping the colour, logo and legacy of the club intact.
