Internet Desk: Diego Maradona further raised controversy regarding the retirement issue of Lionel Messi. As Messi rejoined the squad of new manager Edgardo Bauza, the question over the reason of his retirement has been raised by Maradona.

Lionel Messi declared of his retirement after the loss of Argentina in the final of Copa America cup last June. Till then Argentina team management appealed to him several times for his come back. Even the president of Argentina also appealed to him for his return to the team.

However, Diego Maradona did not ever appeal like this. Now he has blasted over the issues of Messi’s retirement.

“Maybe his retirement was staged to make us forget about the three final losses”, said Maradona in an interview.

The five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or has since sat down with new Argentina boss Edgardo Bauza to discuss the future and has now made himself available for his country.

After this Maradona criticized Messi in this way, “[Messi] escaped the criticism but the Argentines suffered.”

Maradona, who coached Messi when he was in charge of the national side, has questioned the motives behind the 29-year-old’s switch. He criticized of Messi of his personality too.

“He is a great person, but he has no personality,” the 55-year-old said at the time. “He doesn’t have the personality to be a leader.”
