Majid Bishkar’s birthday: Indian football fraternity recalls the memory of the legendary foreigner

Kolkata: Today marks the 61st birthday of Majid Bishkar who currently resides in Tehran. Apart from coaching kids he also engages himself in travel agency business and pan card administration. A couple of months back his friend Jamshid Nassiri visited Iran. There through a mutual friend he spoke with Bhiskar. Bhiskar at that time, being present at Pokhranshah was not able to meet his old friend. However the next time he wishes to meet his friend when Nassiri visits Iran again.

The veteran attacking midfielder, foreigner from Iran played at East Bengal from 1979-81 where he scored 62 goals in 71 appearances and then moved to Mohammedan Sporting where he played from 1982-87 and scored 58 goals in 115 appearances.

Nassiri who remembers his friend, is busy with football in the Kolkata. “I remember the times when I played with him. At that time Indian football was at a greater height in Asian football and Majid was of a whole different level at those times. He had extraordinary skills which includes long rangers, along with game scheming” On the auspicious birthday of Majid, former East Bengal player Monoranjan Bhattacharya said, “He used to be very silent in the dressing rooms, as there was language problem. So he used to indicate by sign language. However it was completely evident that he was different from the rest when compared to his playing”
