Kerala floods: From Manchester United to Barcelona, football world in support for Kerala

With Kerala reeling from flood impact, famous football clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool FC and FC Barcelona have expressed solidarity and urged their supporters to extend all support to the affected people in the State.

Manchester United wrote on their twitter handle, “The thoughts of everyone at Manchester United are with those affected by the .

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the floods in Kerala… Anyone willing to help in any way can reach out to our official supporters club in the state — Liverpool Kerala Supporter’s Club,” said a tweet from Liverpool FC.

Liverpool Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Moore also promised to help the victims after the team’s official supporters club, the Kerala Reds, sought help.

La Liga said, “Our thoughts are with you during this extremely difficult time, Kerala… LaLiga would like to express their solidarity with all those affected during the recent floods. We are with you,” adding: “PRAY FOR KERALA.”

“FC Barcelona expresses its condolences to the families of the victims of the floods in India and offers its support to all those affected,” said a tweet on the FC Barcelona handle.

On Saturday, following East Bengal’s thumping 3-0 win over Aryan Club in the ongoing Calcutta Football League, Man-of-the-match Laldanmawia Ralte donated the entire prize money to Kerala flood relief.
