Kolkata is all set to witness the return of its favourite sporting event, VIVO Pro Kabaddi League with the Season 5 of the tournament ready to take the Kabaddi enthusiasts in the city by storm. With the home team, Bengal Warriors led by the formidable defence of Surjeet Singh looking to overcome what has been mixed bag of a season, the Kabaddi crazy city is in for a treat with a stellar line up of matches scheduled from 01th to 07thSeptember.

The Kabaddi loving sports fans from Kolkata will be making their way to the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium to catch their Kabaddi heroes in action. Also, anticipated will be the debut of Ameares Mondal, the youngster from the port city in front of his home crowd. The Birthright Games & Entertainment owned team will look for inspiration from none other than Surjeet Singh himself who’s had a lukewarm season by his standards so far. The team will need a string of stirring performance from the likes of Jang Kun Lee, Deepak Narwal, Maninder Singh and Ran Singh amongst others to script a comeback in the tournament, which the fans will be hoping and supporting their team wholeheartedly for.

India’s most watched non-cricketing tournament will get off to fitting start in Kolkata with the renowned actor and producer Prosenjit Chatterjee singing the national anthem as Bengal Warriors take on Patna Pirates in the opening clash of the leg. The tournament, so far has been bittersweet for the Kolkata outfit. After starting on a positive note against Telugu Titans and U.P Yoddha, the team lost two consecutive matches against Bengaluru Bulls and Puneri Paltan before bouncing back with 2 wins and 2 tied match ups. With a close victory against Bengaluru Bulls summing up their story of the season till now, Bengal Warriors will look to make the most of their home games to move up the rankings ladder as the playoffs draw nearer.

Bengal Warriors will be aiming to follow the footsteps of Gujarat Fortune Giants who’ve set the benchmark with an undefeated record in their home leg at Ahmedabad. The hosts will back their defensive prowess and look to make the most of their opening match up against Dupki King, Pardeep Narwal’s Patna Pirates in their bid to have a productive home leg. Jan Kun Lee would be prepping for repeat performance when they take on table toppers, U.P Yoddha on September 02nd.  The Kolkata leg will also witness Warriors’ captain Surjeet Singh’s face-off with his former franchise, U Mumbai led by Anup Kumar during the second Inter Zone Challenge Week kick starting from September 05th onwards. There are a total of 3 Inter-Zone Challenge Weeks during the course of VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 5 wherein each of the six teams from a zone will play the other six atleast once.

Apart from blockbuster matches featuring hosts Bengal Warriors, the other 11 teams will be going head to head to make their mark on the points table. Patna Pirates would be keen to stake a claim to the no. 1 spot when they take on lowly ranked Jaipur Pink Panthers and Haryana Steelers. Bengaluru Bulls would be looking forward to bring their losing streak to an end when they take on a resurgent Delhi Dabangs K.C.
