Surya had been sidelined due to an ankle injury initially, but later it was revealed that a sports hernia infection was the actual culprit behind his absence.
After undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, Surya received clearance to participate in the IPL 2024 season on April 3. Both the BCCI and NCA physios ensured that he was fully fit before giving him the green light to return to action. MI, eager to welcome back their star T20 batter, had been building anticipation for his return on their social media platforms. Surya finally linked up with the squad on April 5, Friday, ahead of their upcoming fixture.
