Xtra Time Web Desk: The Royal Challengers Bangalore are encountering hurdles in their Indian Premier League journey yet again. With just one win in four matches, they currently occupy the eighth position on the points table. Legendary Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar has provided guidance to RCB to revitalize their season. RCB is scheduled to compete against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur for their fifth match on Saturday, April 6th.

RCB’s challenges have been particularly evident in their bowling unit, with only Virat Kohli consistently delivering runs with the bat. Their lack of a frontline spinner and the dip in form of pacer Mohammed Siraj have deepened their woes. Despite acquiring Alzarri Joseph for a significant sum last year, his performances have been underwhelming. In the batting department, captain Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell are yet to find their rhythm this season.

Gavaskar said, “Of course, the toss is not in your control. But at all possible opportunities, they should chase targets as batting is their strong point. I think that will give them a better chance at winning matches.”

Gavaskar suggested that RCB should prioritize chasing targets to capitalize on their formidable batting lineup rather than relying solely on their bowling strength. However, RCB’s struggles with this strategy were evident in their recent match against the Lucknow Super Giants, where they fell short in chasing a target of 182, suffering a 28-run defeat. Similarly, in a match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, they set a target of 182 in the first innings, only for KKR to chase it down with 19 balls to spare, winning by 7 wickets. Both matches took place at their home ground, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
