Sabyasachi Bagchi: Suddenly, there’s uncertainty about the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals match at Eden Gardens on 17th April. Due to Ram Navami celebrations on the same day, the BCCI wants to change the venue of the match. Although KKR team management wants the match to be held at Eden, the matter is still under discussion.
On April 17th, Ram Navami will be celebrated across the country. Ram Navami processions will be held in various places in the state. Hence, the BCCI is concerned about the security issues surrounding the match on that day. Even Kolkata Police considers organizing the match on that day risky. However, the matter is still under discussion. It’s known that the CAB and the KKR management will finalize the decision after discussing with Kolkata Police.

The Kolkata Knight Riders are opposed to moving the match from Kolkata. They want the match against Rajasthan to be held at Eden on another date. Accordingly, they have requested an alternative date from the Cab. In that case, Shreyas Iyer’s team might get a chance to play on April 18th. However, on that same day, Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians are scheduled to play in Mohali from 7:30 PM onwards. Therefore, broadcasting channels might face difficulties if two matches are scheduled on the same day in terms of coverage.

In this regard, hosting the Eden match from 3 PM on the 18th is being considered as the only alternative. Efforts are underway to find a compromise for playing the match on the 18th from the Kolkata Knight Riders’ end. However, the final decision on this matter will be taken after Monday’s 01st April meeting with all parties involved. Only after that, the complete picture will be clear to cricket enthusiasts in the country. Until then, there’s no change regarding the organization of the KKR vs RR match at Eden.
