IPL 2020: MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings planning to hold camp in UAE in mid August

Chennai Super Kings won IPL 2016 after coming back fro two years ban.

XtraTime Web Desk: MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings is likely to hold a camp in UAE during mid August. The three times champions are looking to have the preparatory camp for the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) around August 15, though the dates are not finalized yet. It is learnt the franchise owners are planning to take the cricketers to UAE by a chartered flight. The travel itinerary will be finalized after the Governing Council meeting on Sunday i.e., August 2, 2020.


The camp is likely to take place in Dubai with the players availing the training facilities at the ICC academy. There are three Ovals inside the ICC academy along with state of the art indoor training facility. For teams making Abu Dhabi their base, they will train at the two academy grounds adjacent to the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.


The Super Kings did organize a camp in Chennai in March but had to be called off because of the pandemic. The talismanic CSK captain Dhoni, who was on a sabbatical from international cricket since the 2019 World Cup semi final clash against New Zealand at Old Trafford, was among the few cricketers who turned up for the camp.


Not only CSK but other teams are also planning to organize a 2-3 weeks training camp in Dubai before the IPL 2020 kicks off on September 19. Most of the franchises are planning to hold training camps for their squad in Dubai. The proposed training camps will be scheduled around the 2nd week of September.
