IPL 2019: Down but not out, a determined Wriddhiman Saha eyeing for a comeback

Sabyasachi Bagchi: Indian cricket team’s star wicket keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha faced a huge blow on Thursday as his Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad didn’t retain him for the forthcoming season. Indian cricket’s ‘Superman’ is out of the national team for a long period of time due to an injury. Beside him most of the players from Bengal likes of Mohammed Shami, Manoj Tiwary, Sayan Ghosh and Kanishk Seth weren’t retained by their respective franchises. The players auction of IPL season 11 will take place in Jaipur on December 17 and for that each franchises had to submit their players list in between November 15. So all the franchises gave their retained players list to BCCI.

Earlier Kolkata Knight Riders released their star Pacer Mitchell Starc by sending just a text message which created a lot of buzz in World cricket. The same thing has happened with Wriddhiman as well. He is currently at NCA in Bangalore for rehab. He has already started his practice in full swing from Thursday. On being asked about the matter Wriddhiman said,”In the last season I only played eight matches for Hyderabad. I am yet to be fully fit and performance is also a matter and O think that’s the reason for my exclusion. But can a franchise only text a cricketer to let him know that he is out of the squad? ” That’s good that they have shared their thoughts via a text message and I have no problem with that.”

After playing a lot of cricket in last 10 years with pride Wriddhiman now has no team in IPL. Now it will be tough for him to make a come back in the cash rich league as most of the franchises have regular keepers. But Wriddhiman isn’t concerned about the matter.” I don’t think much about my future. If I get a chance then I will play, if I don’t then I won’t be unhappy as well, added Wriddhiman.
