Xtra Time Web Desk: India’s ace badminton player HS Prannoy failed to live up to the expectation as he crashed out of the semi-finals of the Indonesian Open 2022. Prannoy lost to Chinese shuttler Zhao Jungpen in straight sets 21-16, 21-15. The experienced Indian shuttler struggled to keep pace with Zhao and lost the first game 16-21. There was no change in the second game as Junpeng opened up a 9-point lead. While Prannoy tried to fight back, he was no match for Junpeng.

Prannoy squandered a great opportunity to make it to the final of his first BWF 1000 tournament since 2017. The last time Prannoy won was in US Open in July of 2017.

Prannoy has been on a sensational form this year and this will be his second BWF tournament semi-final this year.

The World No.23 started the year by reaching the quarterfinals in three consecutive tournaments – Indian Open, Syed Modi International and the German Open. After the disappointment at the All-England Championship, where he made a first round exit he reached the finals of the Swiss Open. He ended up being the Runner-Up after losing to Jonathan Christie.

He played a key role in India’s Thomas Cup winning campaign, where he remained unbeaten.
